I’ve been playing around with Forex Tester on the weekends to backtest some simple trend-following strategies. It’s solid, but I find the interface a bit clunky and the data updates aren’t always smooth. I’m not against switching to something else if it makes the process more efficient. Anyone here found a good alternative that doesn’t feel overwhelming to set up, especially for someone who isn’t super technical?

Whether it's backtesting FX or farming DeFi strategies, I feel like people spend too much time trying to perfect setups in controlled environments. Markets — TradFi or crypto — are messy. You can backtest for weeks, but when there's unexpected news or some whale dumps, your whole logic goes out the window. Tools are helpful, but it’s how you manage chaos live that decides whether your wallet survives. Same rule whether you’re flipping GBP/USD or memecoins.
I was in the same boat a while back — Forex Tester helped, but I got tired of the clunky workflow. What helped me was checking out this full comparison list on https://forextester.com/blog/forex-tester-alternatives/. A couple of the options there offer better UX and more flexibility with data imports and indicator overlays. I ended up switching to one that lets me fast-forward price action without skipping candles — feels way more natural when drilling entries.
